PostCut โ licence terms
These terms govern your use of the Windows application PostCut. Its privacy statement lives on its own page: PostCut privacy policy.
Licence
PostCut is licensed, not sold. Your purchase through the Microsoft Store grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the application on the devices that store permits, for your own purposes, personal or commercial. You may not redistribute it, resell it, rent it, or attempt to derive its source code beyond what applicable law expressly allows.
Purchase, updates and refunds
the Microsoft Store handles the transaction, the download and the updates, and its terms of sale govern payment and refunds โ we cannot process a refund ourselves. Updates are offered through the same channel; we do not promise any particular update schedule, and an installed version keeps working whether or not you take them.
Your files are yours, and your responsibility
PostCut processes your files on your own device, under your control. It never modifies an original in place โ it writes new files โ but you remain responsible for keeping copies of your originals and for checking every output before relying on it. Nothing produced by the app constitutes legal, archival or compliance advice.
No warranty
The application is provided as-is and as-available, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Results depend on your device, your operating system and your files. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, in which case that exclusion does not apply to you and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, PostCut โ including but not limited to loss or corruption of documents or data, loss of profits, business interruption, or any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages โ even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the application.
Acceptable use
You are responsible for having the right to process the files you open in PostCut, and for complying with the law that applies to you when you do. Because the application runs entirely on your device and reports nothing to us, we have no visibility of, and no control over, what you use it on.
Third-party components
PostCut bundles open-source components, which remain under their own licences. Those licences are reproduced inside the application.
- FFmpeg (LGPL-2.1) โ decoding, encoding and filtering; the licence text ships inside the app
