PostCut — privacy policy

This policy covers the Windows application PostCut. It is the policy the the Microsoft Store listing points at. The short version is that the app is built so there is nothing to collect.

What PostCut does on your device

• Decodes, previews and exports your footage entirely on your own computer.
• Makes no network connections in normal operation — it works with the machine offline.
• Requires no account and no sign-in, and holds no user database.
• Contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no advertising.
• Adds no watermark to anything it exports.
• Writes only to the output file you choose, plus temporary files in your own temp directory that it clears when it is done.

Permissions

PostCut requests no special permissions. It reads the files you open and writes the files you ask it to write, using the ordinary file access every desktop application has.

What we collect

Nothing. We operate no server that PostCut talks to, hold no user database, keep no copies of your files and record no usage data tied to you. We have no way to identify you and no way to reach you unless you contact us first.

Purchase and installation

PostCut is distributed through the Microsoft Store. The store handles the transaction, the download and the updates under its own privacy policy and terms of sale; we receive no personal information about you from a purchase, only anonymous aggregate sales figures. What you do inside the app afterwards is not reported to the store or to us.

Children

PostCut is a general-purpose utility, is not directed at children, and — because it collects nothing from anyone — it collects nothing from children either.

Your rights

Rights of access, correction, deletion and portability apply to personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing to access, correct, delete or export. Your documents are already entirely in your own hands: deleting them from your device deletes them completely.

Changes

If a future version of PostCut changes any of the above, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the change will never extend to reading or transmitting the content of your files.
